Last Saturday, we went to the dentist for our regular checkup. I love trips of this kind because it's another opportunity to know my children more.
For this particular trip, I learned that:
- we, parents, are the source of strength of our children. A mom's or dad's tiny voice or even a momentary grip of a parent's hand is enough to take away the fear
- kids gain confidence when you encourage them and give them your full support
- trust your kids, and they learn to believe in themselves
We applied all this as Gabo and Rago took turns to the dental chair. Wizheart and I kept on encouraging them, telling them that they could do it, that it wouldn't hurt, and that we were just on the sides at their beck and call.
True enough, when each one had their x-ray alone in the x-ray room with a gargantuan-like equipment around them, neither one of them were scared. The dentist, Doc Karen, said, "We have brave boys!"
